APCOA Parking was delighted to sponsor the Young IT Professional of the Year category at the Belfast Telegraph IT Awards 2021, and the winner has been announced as Johnny Gillespie of Version 1.

APCOA is very proud of the innovative solutions we create for our clients, many of which are developed by our talented IT professionals. We invest to ensure our IT infrastructure achieves robust standards and levels of certification so we can be confident it will deliver 24/7 support for the products and services we provide.

During the COVID pandemic, technology has supported a structural shift in our mode of operation, with a combination of secure remote and office working delivering more flexibility. A combined customer service and control centre is providing a fully integrated facility for APCOA’s on- and off-street parking operations across the UK and Ireland, supported by new telephony and digital services including web chat and a customer service platform.

APCOA’s UK&I director of innovation & technology, Stephen Rickett, explains: “We have focused on how we could become even more efficient through the further utilisation of digital technology, cloud services and automation.

“As a result, APCOA has continued to roll out new solutions, such as our flexible reporting suite APCOA Analytics, and our fully comprehensive ANPR based parking management system, Parkway, as well as further enhancing our digital capability”.

The pandemic has also accelerated change across the parking industry, with higher levels of public support for contactless parking and payment options for example. APCOA is transforming car park locations into Urban Hubs, providing the physical and digital infrastructure for mobility, logistics, electric vehicle charging, and technology-based services. Strategic partners gain access to APCOA’s physical and digital infrastructure and communities benefit from an increased range of sustainable neighbourhood services and facilities. This integrated approach requires a high level of IT capability and innovation, the demand for which will undoubtedly increase in the future.

Kim Challis, regional managing director for APCOA UK & Ireland, concludes:

“We are extremely aware of the importance of IT in both the day to day running of our business and the development of complex technology solutions to support our clients and our future business strategy.

“We’ve invested in a research and development centre which is encouraging young IT professionals to focus on innovative, market-leading software solutions and products for our business.

“Sponsoring this award demonstrates APCOA’s recognition of the contribution that talented IT individuals can make to forward-thinking organisations.

“Very many congratulations to Johnny Gillespie on his win, and also to Tanya Matthews who was Highly Commended.”
